Purpose of the Job
• Handle the company’s cash and ensure that payments are made only to authorized requesting parties after verifying the required approvals.
• Collect cash and cash equivalents, cash cheques, withdraw funds from banks, and disburse cash for authorized payments.
• Verify physical cash against accounting records and maintain accurate cash balances.
• Properly sort and organize banknotes, denominations, and other negotiable instruments to minimize errors and facilitate efficient cash disbursement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Effect authorized payments to suppliers, creditors, government agencies, employees, and other stakeholders.
• Thoroughly review payment requests to ensure that all required approval procedures have been properly completed before making payments.
• Sort and organize banknotes, denominations, and other negotiable instruments to minimize errors and facilitate disbursement.
• Pay employee salaries, per diems, advances, and other approved payments based on payroll and supporting documents.
• Collect receivables, maintain accurate collection records, deposit collections with the bank daily, and withdraw cash from the bank against authorized written orders.
• Maintain records of all cash received and paid and regularly verify physical cash against recorded balances.
• Verify amounts to be received, collect cash, and issue receipts as evidence of collection.
• Sort and organize receipt- and payment-related documents and distribute the required copies to relevant departments and personnel in accordance with internal control procedures.
• Prepare payment vouchers for all authorized and approved payments.
• Monitor the cash-on-hand balance and request cash replenishment in advance when necessary.
• Maintain the company’s petty cash, update the petty cash register, and keep accurate records of petty cash expenses.
• Maintain the cash book and ensure that the book balance is regularly reconciled with the physical cash held in the safe.
• Prepare and submit daily cash balance reports.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management from time to time.

Required qualifications
- Required Knowledge and Skills
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance or a related field.
- Graduates of 2017 E.C. or 2018 E.C. with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
- Experience
- No prior work experience is required.
- Previous experience in a cashier position is an added advantage.
- Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of internal control systems and procedures.
- Computer literacy with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in both Amharic and English.
